Happy Fireworks Day!

I really love fireworks. I don't care what day it is, I am here for fireworks. I love sparklers, and we stocked up with BOGO sparklers this year. We'll be lighting sparklers on New Year's too, I'm sure. I love dressing my littles in coordinating red, white, and blue outfits and trying to get a good picture. I love spending time with my family when Michael has the holiday off. (He does this year, and I'm thrilled.) I love the memories this holiday brings back to me, because it's always been an enjoyable one. (Sparklers out at Grandmama and Grandpapa's house!)

I'm also that crazy homeschooling mom who used today as an opportunity to have one big, gritty, unedited history lesson. THey know it wasn't "Independence Day" for everyone. It still isn't for everyone either, and even though we wear our colors and cheer for fireworks there is still a lot of work to do.

Saying "This isn't right, and I'm going to work to change it!" isn't unpatriotic. In fact, it's about as American as you can get. Our country was built on people saying "This has to change.", and we can't keep growing without more people saying "Okay, we changed that. What's next?"

My poor, unsocialized homeschool kids.

Happy Fireworks Day, everyone!
