Christmas Hack

I love looking at pictures on Instagram where people share their perfectly wrapped packages and gorgeous, hand lettered tags...But that’s not me. Maybe, someday, when my children are older and I have a little more time, I’ll be able to wrap perfect parcels and decorate them with glittery bows and specialized name tags, but these days I don’t even have time to slap a sticky tag on things and scrawl their names with a Sharpie.

So, I turned my holiday time crunch Hack into a holiday tradition. Every year, each child is assigned a wrapping paper. (or two) On Christmas morning they find a sample of that wrapping paper in their stockings, and that way everyone knows which gifts are their’s to open.

There are exceptions to that, of course. I make sure there are tags on the gifts they bought for each other, and gifts from their aunts, uncles, unties, and great-grandparents all have tags on them, but everything from Michael and I is just wrapped in their paper and put under the tree.

It’s past time for me to be wrapping this year. Maybe I’ll get on that this weekend.
