This Happened
Today, January 30, 2020, my final, tiny, baldest baby had her first “piggy tails”. And yes, I am that mom. The one who gets teary over these little milestones, makes note of them in notebooks and my heart, and spends untold hours reminiscing over the fact that she was just brand new while I imagine that oh-so-amazing newborn baby smell and curse the fact that we’ve closed that chapter forever. (Please, someone have a baby I can smell soon!)
Her second birthday is in a little less than ten weeks, and I know it’s completely cliche to say that it went by so fast, but it went by so fast! As small as she still is, she is no longer my tiny baby. She’s a toddler with a personality that seems too big for her little body, who repeats every single word she hears, and who can scream at an octave that will leave you wondering if your hearing will go back to normal. As I write this she is happily pretending to be Anna to her big sister’s Elsa, though I think she’s singing Moana, and is dramatically falling onto the floor when she’s “frozen” with a wild “Ah ha!”
She says “I love you” now, lord knows she hears it enough, and helps me change the sheets on her little bed.
And now she has piggy tails.
Whaaaaaaat?!
