Daddy’s Girl

She cries when he leaves now. I turn into some mommy version of chopped liver while she stands at the door whimpering “Daddy, no. No go.” It’s both sweet and heartbreaking to watch. When he’s gone she’ll snuggle in my lap for awhile as I assure her that Daddy will be home very soon, and then she’s fine again, going about her day without a care in the world.

Then, oh my goodness, Daddy comes home. Trumpets sound, a band plays, confetti showers down from the heavens, and her world is whole again!
